Knockbridge Vintage Day: A Resounding Success
The picturesque village of Knockbridge near Dundalk was abuzz with excitement on Sunday, 10 September, as the annual Knockbridge Vintage Rally and Working Day took place. This year’s event was the biggest yet, drawing the largest crowd in its history and showcasing the charm and heritage of a bygone era.
Vintage enthusiasts from near and far showcased an impressive array of vintage tractors, cars, and bicycles, while stationary engines and horse-drawn equipment added to the nostalgic atmosphere. The main field was a hive of activity, with threshing drums humming and the sights and sounds of traditional farming methods captivating large crowds. Interest in the working field has grown every year, making it a highlight of the event.
Musical entertainment included performances from various local groups, with country music sensation Johnny Brady headlining and getting the audience dancing to his chart-topping hits.
Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed the dog show, various demonstrations, including flower arranging by Veronica McMahon, arts and crafts, basket weaving, and blacksmithing. The Vintage Fashion Show showcased stunning vintage pieces, with familiar faces modeling a vibrant array of outfits and hats. The children’s area was filled with laughter and joy, offering activities such as The Gathering Drum, Circus250, inflatables, a soft play area, and a Lego workshop by The Brickx Club.
The renowned tea stall served freshly cooked food and delicious home baking, with local ladies contributing their culinary talents. Visitors relished the opportunity to catch up with family and friends over a cup of tea in the marquee.
The event was a tremendous community success, and the club extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended, sponsored, or participated. A remarkable amount of money was raised for local charities, which will be presented at the club’s presentation night in December.
